I was quite pleased by being featured in this treasury because I've always loved the idea of working with bones an teeth, both real and sculpted and resin-cast. The idea of creating something lovely out of something macabre has always inspired me.<br />

This tooth ring has since been sold but I have a few more tooth necklaces, and one or two more rings, that I was holding off listing just because I had no idea how they would sell. I was afraid they might be too much for Etsy, but I have been pleasantly surprised to find that the ones I had listed sold out rather quickly. I actually really loved making the little clay teeth and am happy to know that I could probably make another batch of them and they wouldn't go to waste in my bead box!caro-chanhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/02816959125315317615noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-8499737509005967878.post-22060879134723473862011-11-07T17:31:00.000-08:002011-11-07T17:32:42.502-08:00Ghostly lace, tea stains, & vintage ribbon<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgBwE5XebFS4b-HcN_VPpCgK6d1iK1Kv2WwC8OH45H7EHbwkjoBibzH7ZGqCI9H0ouef9D4NWwb0Gq-nGkkXCP_6TNgHwinQonHEVSwps0roypt405kxytBSzon3xC0lCtzeDcVlKu-6mbk/s1600/moristuffophanim.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="275" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgBwE5XebFS4b-HcN_VPpCgK6d1iK1Kv2WwC8OH45H7EHbwkjoBibzH7ZGqCI9H0ouef9D4NWwb0Gq-nGkkXCP_6TNgHwinQonHEVSwps0roypt405kxytBSzon3xC0lCtzeDcVlKu-6mbk/s400/moristuffophanim.jpg" width="400" /></a></div>I've been spending the last week or so working on some <a href="http://xmossgardenx.blogspot.com/p/morigirl-fashion.html">Mori Girl</a> inspired pieces! It's not a style I wear in it's pure form, but I love taking inspiration from it. I like it's raw edges, cute quirk, and ghostly styling.<br />
<br />
The pieces in the picture above are just some of the things I've been working on! From left to right: bow brooch with "Classical Deco" cameo, nurse cross patch, a big lace collar necklace, and a lace cross necklace.<br />
<br />
I don't know what my favorite part of making all of these are! I am pretty fond of stamping my brand name all over everything with individual letter stamps (à la the Mori accessory brand<a href="http://incompletealchemist.web.fc2.com/"> Incomplete Alchemist</a>), tea dying lengths of lace and scraps of ribbon, or making the tassels by hand out of a ball of vintage string!caro-chanhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/02816959125315317615noreply@blogger.com3tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-8499737509005967878.post-64058615812419005782011-10-12T09:42:00.000-07:002011-10-12T09:42:16.551-07:00Custom Perfume Blends<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"></div><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgJLTudez9yzE3a-KxcmEv1giuv4aBaA8gMnRPCDupmm92dzCZORfo0hP5F-fEszv-Wf2YSG9GOZshnY9zlf_OgDRR8Lmzw0Mk49RsWOmCRQ9Rx0ht46NwHRjBr9ioYiD_HZ2V3TfmXQB3y/s1600/perfumebottles-graphicsfairy002d.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="clear: left; float: left; margin-bottom: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="200" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgJLTudez9yzE3a-KxcmEv1giuv4aBaA8gMnRPCDupmm92dzCZORfo0hP5F-fEszv-Wf2YSG9GOZshnY9zlf_OgDRR8Lmzw0Mk49RsWOmCRQ9Rx0ht46NwHRjBr9ioYiD_HZ2V3TfmXQB3y/s200/perfumebottles-graphicsfairy002d.jpg" width="155" /></a>One particular crafty project I'm working on that I'm very excited about is custom perfume oil blends. I am slowly amassing a small army of single note fragrances and have been playing around and day dreaming about what I want to create! There are so many scents I want to try to create, inspired by so many different things. So far, I'm really enjoying this craft project, how could I not? I get to sit around and smell pleasant things all day (beats smelling E6000 all day!) and trying to imagine what unicorn glens and vampire crypts might smell like.<br />
<br />
I hope to eventually have at least a couple scents for sale in my shop, once I work out some kinks and get some <strike>unsuspecting test subjects</strike> friends to help try out some scents and give me some feedback on them.<br />
<br />
I've always had a fondness for perfumes, but I often find that commercial perfumes all tend to be a bit boring and all smell the same to me after a while. Personally, I don't really crave smelling like a purse manufacturer, or a tacky former pop star, there's no imagination behind that! So a few years back on a search for something a little different, something a little more <i>me,</i> I stumbled across the infamous <a href="http://blackphoenixalchemylab.com/">Black Phoenix Alchemy Labs</a> and was delighted to find a world full of perfumes inspired by dusty libraries, ancient goddesses, and witch's parlors. There are literally dozens of other artisan perfume shops out there, and I've sampled around a few of them, and now I think it's turn for me to try my own hand at creating the scents that I've dreamed about. Does the world need another artisan perfume oil vender, aren't there enough already? Probably not, but that doesn't mean I'm not going to experiment a bit with a craft I would love to try!caro-chanhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/02816959125315317615noreply@blogger.com2tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-8499737509005967878.post-53083403404803922372011-10-03T10:31:00.000-07:002011-10-03T10:31:00.315-07:00Etsy Love: Parish RelicsOne day while hunting down some stained glass pieces for <a href="http://www.fyeahlolita.com/2011/09/innocent-worlds-rose-stained-glass-some.html">a different blog post</a> I was writing, I stumbled across <a href="http://www.etsy.com/shop/parrishrelics">Parish Relics</a> and was very pleased with what they had to offer: gorgeous medieval inspired jewelery pieces made with real stained glass and gorgeously textured and finished polymer clay! While maintaining an air of rough and almost primitive antiques, the pieces are also meticulously constructed and perfectly finished. I actually thought these were made with real metal at first!<br />

Before I started pouring my own resin pieces I enjoyed making pieces with magnifying cabochons and it was nice again to be able to make something pretty that didn't involve all that resin entails. With October just beginning, and Halloween around the corner, I am sort of on a bit of a morbid kick.<br />

I only have very few acrylic eyeballs, as when it comes to BJD eyes I'm a fan of silicone, and I am not going to to be using my nice silicone eyeballs for craft projects, but I did manage to dig up a ton of not-quite-eyeballs that I was willing to sacrifice.</span></span></div><div style="text-align: left;"><br />

I love them pretty much indiscriminately. From the bad ass stab-every-one-who-gets-in-my-way Medieval ones, to the glittery pink rainbow and dreams ones, to the somewhere-in-the-middle tacky 1970's ones that are so often found decoupaged and shellacked onto slices of wood ones. Recently, I was lurking around the local Goodwill when I saw an older woman walk by with a huge wooden picture/clock of the 1970's variety featuring unicorns in a magical glen, it took so much of my will power not to shout "Look over there!" while I stole the clock from her cart and made a run for the register. I was <i>so</i> jealous. But I'm not really here today to tell you about the awful and mean things I would do to old ladies in the name of unicorns, instead, I want to showcase some of my favorite handmade unicorn themed things from Etsy!<br />
<center><br />
<script src="http://www.craftcult.com/js/trwi.js?s=2&l=OTI1Njg3NXw3NzQ2NjY0ODA&r=32984&t=s&m=0&u=9256875&">
</script></center><br />
<br />
The unicorn I probably am most fond of is the unicorn of the Medieval variety. I love it for it's strangeness, it sometimes looks hardly anything like the typical horse-with-a-horn styled unicorn that is depicted nowadays, and I love it for its aforementioned bad-assery. It's never shown running along glittering rainbows into dream land. The Medieval unicorn is either peacefully content being it's bad ass self, or about ready to stab someone with it's horn.<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"></div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"></div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjmugS24LoX8THdFVUL-z9ewJ2VtlQk8zmZd2vTHFIvygTlzae7yg6aCIrwew0jvDqG90RKdsXeY0m8_g4cKCVM6kkhmVPgodOBihrUG853hwfDmhw4VOWL3dizONEdCml1PmPdaLNw0zkD/s1600/DSC_0009.jpg" imageanchor="1"><img border="0" height="245" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjmugS24LoX8THdFVUL-z9ewJ2VtlQk8zmZd2vTHFIvygTlzae7yg6aCIrwew0jvDqG90RKdsXeY0m8_g4cKCVM6kkhmVPgodOBihrUG853hwfDmhw4VOWL3dizONEdCml1PmPdaLNw0zkD/s400/DSC_0009.jpg" width="400" /></a></div><div style="text-align: center;"><span style="font-size: xx-small;"><i>So I have a couple of beat up old unicorn related books. Want to read something interesting about unicorns?<a href="http://www.jcs-group.com/eerie/hidden/unicorn.html"> Check out this page </a>with a brief history of unicorns throughout the ages.</i></span></div><br />
I would love to create some new jewelery pieces featuring the unicorn, both the girly glittery kind, and the more regal kind. I am not exactly sure how I want to go about doing this, but I do have a few ideas floating around, from sculpting my own unicorn head and making a mold around it and making my own custom cabochons (something I've been waiting to try ever since I started casting resin) or maybe something simpler, like featuring unicorn art in some resin brooches.<br />

Which, generally, is a pretty bad idea because that means the next time I want to use them I have to carefully make sure I get every single piece of glitter off, which I never can manage. But this time around, I bought a set of molds specifically <i>for</i> filling with rainbow glitter. An alphabet mold!<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEihWkdD1sgEDPOqXiqj4ekJoGSTtJVwX2CJ_EdX1UEcTY7KRR5F8DCDvIDZU1onl2EcMyFOsn9qLG4IX53ciedKmtYhJEDqOMtKCcxpFB-HaLCJxLAIDXkjMuTkB_SoF2A_h_IcCjV9xuOY/s1600/DSC_0026.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="282" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEihWkdD1sgEDPOqXiqj4ekJoGSTtJVwX2CJ_EdX1UEcTY7KRR5F8DCDvIDZU1onl2EcMyFOsn9qLG4IX53ciedKmtYhJEDqOMtKCcxpFB-HaLCJxLAIDXkjMuTkB_SoF2A_h_IcCjV9xuOY/s400/DSC_0026.jpg" width="400" /> </a></div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><span style="font-size: xx-small;"><i>Fresh out of the mold, and full of extra bits that need to be carefully removed!</i></span></div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;"><br />
</div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">A while ago online I stumbled across an alphabet mold, and by the time I realized <i>oh God, I need that</i>, it was all sold out, so I had to hunt down another place selling the same one, which turned into a much bigger task than I imagined, as nearly everywhere only sold a significantly larger and fancier alphabet mold, while I wanted the small, simple letters. After several days of searching and actually emailing and messaging some sellers who had previously sold the set, I found a shop that was just so happening to make an order of molds and was going to add on the alphabet set for me. <i>Awesome</i>.</div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;"><br />
</div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">The letters came out pretty great, but were sort of a pain to fill. I had to carefully "paint" the resin in with a pour stick, and even a single drip out of the mold created a big pointy mess just waiting for me to have to file down later. Oh well, hopefully it's worth it! </div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><br />
</div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEj8V-k3Yy2LIHqUu4G3SshzD_e3qm87VxCfBt-greTcdqSpqYUIsQjd7E9DnxVv9NzRnK91G-wl_aYpNPpinoau1sD4rjoiC3p9IqVeuv_1bmGz3p9q-VK3cDhu40jnzJ1zenJd7uOpNH0g/s1600/DSC_0031.jpg"><img border="0" height="268" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEj8V-k3Yy2LIHqUu4G3SshzD_e3qm87VxCfBt-greTcdqSpqYUIsQjd7E9DnxVv9NzRnK91G-wl_aYpNPpinoau1sD4rjoiC3p9IqVeuv_1bmGz3p9q-VK3cDhu40jnzJ1zenJd7uOpNH0g/s400/DSC_0031.jpg" width="400" /></a> </div>What do I plan on doing with this ridiculously glittery letters? Inspired more by the fairy kei side of things, and this awesome little Hello Kitty cell phone strap that I am saving for <i>just the right moment</i>, I want to make some purse/phone straps with words on them. Hopefully it works out, hopefully the little letters are strong enough, and hopefully I can find my awesome little hand drill, because I have been doodling the different things I want to make with these resin pieces in my notebook for a few weeks now!caro-chanhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/02816959125315317615noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-8499737509005967878.post-86947404891989334852011-09-26T13:17:00.000-07:002011-09-28T13:14:55.457-07:00Treasury SpotlightI have recently fallen in love with Etsy treasuries, and through <a href="http://www.craftcult.com/">Craftcult</a> I've made the happy discovery that a number of my goods have ended up in some particularly awesome treasuries. <br />
<br />
I found <a href="http://www.etsy.com/listing/80194155/blood-vial-vampires-blood-drop-corked?utm_source=CraftCult&utm_medium=api&utm_campaign=api">one of my blood vial necklaces</a> was featured in this amazing vampire themed one collected by the talented <a href="http://www.etsy.com/shop/Msemrick">Msemrick</a>, who makes a ton of fabulous Halloween inspired and spooky pieces.<br />

<br />
When I saw this treasury I was quite honored to be included in such a fantastically vampy treasury!caro-chanhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/02816959125315317615noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-8499737509005967878.post-33238648045097373602011-09-25T11:34:00.000-07:002011-09-25T11:34:13.682-07:00Etsy Love: Sweet Ruin & Some Heartsy AddictionWhen it comes to jewelry and decor, I love a sort of mysterious and romantic antique aesthetic. Something dark and dusty, yet full of wonder. Which is why I was pleasantly surprised to stumble across Sweet Ruin's Etsy shop on a late night Etsy expedition for amazing masks.<br />
<br />
<div style="text-align: center;"><a href="http://www.etsy.com/listing/52963275/mask-a-mermaid-fair"><img border="0" height="640" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjaohyIYBa7xel2zjAnY58Yaqb4O6Apdi0To9RiAx5R_-Ai1TCCQbtcn7m81iC6PgjWV1vdMqtmAZs48o7w3fCDZGuGQa2Ur9ePcHAhLJUTGp9eG5ZbdZz8V3t4VGcCKaNRsaenKBclMK4A/s640/il_570xN.163274643.jpg" width="596" /></a> </div><div style="text-align: left;">Not only does Sweet Ruin make some amazingly decadent masks, fit for a opulent Rococo or Victorian masquerade (that are, sadly a bit out of my monthly mask budget), but they also offer a variety of jewelry pieces and even art and some stunningly gorgeous hand fans.</div><br />

I've also recently discovered <a href="http://heartsy.me/">Heartsy</a>! What is Heartsy, and how does it work, you ask? Basically, it's a place for select Etsy shops to post special sales where you can get between %50 and even %70 or higher a percent off your purchase from them. They offer a limited number of vouchers at a discounted price that are good for a sometimes astronomically large amount of store credit. If you're a VIP member of Heartsy you can get even more of a discount on some sales. The shops change on a day-to-day basis, so there's always something new to be tempted into buying.<br />
<br />
<div style="text-align: center;"><a href="http://heartsy.me/users/179172/referral?c=badges-heartsy"><img alt="Heartsy - Exclusive deals on fabulous handmade designer items at members-only prices." height="183" src="http://heartsy.me/images/affiliate/heartsy/219x183-heartsy.jpg" width="219" /></a></div><br />
I paid for a month of it to test it out a bit, and currently I am loving it. I've bought 3 vouchers that in total cost me $40 (including my month's subscription) and have gotten $80 worth of vouchers. I have a feeling I'll be giving out a lot of handmade stuff for Christmas this year! <br />
<br />
Will I keep my subscription for a second month? Maybe, I really don't know yet, it all depends whether or not I think I'm going a little bit spend crazy with stuff I don't really <i>need</i> but just can't <i>resist</i> or what. Although, I am considering possibly offering a sale in <a href="http://www.etsy.com/shop/OphanimGothique">my own Etsy shop</a> through Heartsy, I've just got to get it a little bit more filled up.caro-chanhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/02816959125315317615noreply@blogger.com1tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-8499737509005967878.post-13530036114553339332011-09-24T17:12:00.000-07:002011-09-25T10:22:02.563-07:00September's Brimfield Antique MarketLong time, no blogging! I am hoping to remedy that with a whole bunch of new posts about what I've been up to, and better yet, what I've been making. I hope you all didn't forget about me while I was gone!<br />
<br />
I have blogged on here before about <a href="http://ophanimgothique.blogspot.com/2010/09/back-from-brimfields-massive-antique.html">the Brimfield Market</a> that I have been going to since I was little, and I had intended to blog about back in May, when I went for the first time this year. But, I had come back with a total of 2 pictures and absolutely nothing. So, I decided to have another go at it for the year, and went up at the beginning of this month for the final, September, Brimfield of the year. I am happy to say I took a ton more pictures than I did last time, and even came home with a bunch of great stuff!<br />

I really loved decorating this bonnet because the print it was supposed to match was just gorgeous! It has lots of extra flowers, lace, and even a bow to match the bow on the print.<br /><br /><div style="text-align: center;"><a onblur="try {parent.deselectBloggerImageGracefully();} catch(e) {}" href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEinFljHHlmFF3MDMXLzDVkxyHQPujZNKGIlJ4H4lfbv9PxYaHPuvuba_VL-G7RMkOEqy-kSOAEgosPIqcJmbh4FIyUF6ttKyVLKCABp49NYDzHy870lpqtJD8tyzpj4Ajoj_EdOyIT6gmjl/s1600/DSC_0016.jpg"><img style="cursor: pointer; width: 268px; height: 400px;" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEinFljHHlmFF3MDMXLzDVkxyHQPujZNKGIlJ4H4lfbv9PxYaHPuvuba_VL-G7RMkOEqy-kSOAEgosPIqcJmbh4FIyUF6ttKyVLKCABp49NYDzHy870lpqtJD8tyzpj4Ajoj_EdOyIT6gmjl/s400/DSC_0016.jpg" alt="" id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5582346920582701090" border="0" /></a><br /><br /><div style="text-align: left;">I think it looks so lush and gorgeous! I am definitely proud of this bonnet! If you want to read a review by the girl I made it for, <a href="http://pinkbearie.blogspot.com/2011/02/ophanimgothique-bonnet-review.html">check out her blog post</a> on it.<br /><br />I've actually made a few more bonnets since the last update, I've just been a bit slow putting them up on my blog or writing about them.<br /><br />My Etsy shop is down at the moment due to post-convention disorganization, and I have a con I'll be vending at in less than two months! Hopefully I get the shop up before then! Although, I have been toying with the idea of just having my own webshop, instead of an Etsy. But that's something I'll definitely have to look into!<br /></div></div>caro-chanhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/02816959125315317615noreply@blogger.com1tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-8499737509005967878.post-24233877155709620702011-02-19T15:05:00.000-08:002011-02-19T15:12:18.030-08:00A Customer CoordinateA few weeks ago I sold a black and white checkered bonnet to the lovely Sammy at <a href="http://therandomlolita.blogspot.com/">The Random Lolita Blog</a> and was delighted to see her post a coordinate with it!<br /><br /><div style="text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEireOP4wbBiInMmMITsANbmM7CVKy7Y9utMc5bXA1c7kGPxqhfKslNilESUaQS0r3jJKR9Oz9ORlE8VIvWVpSagCzU9xv3Q6wAMG4tx8pPVyIWVpLwnfozgMbHl69EMpKQ9osDbnQ4WBjws/s1600/02.png"><img style="display: block; margin: 0px auto 10px; text-align: center; cursor: pointer; width: 157px; height: 264px;" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEireOP4wbBiInMmMITsANbmM7CVKy7Y9utMc5bXA1c7kGPxqhfKslNilESUaQS0r3jJKR9Oz9ORlE8VIvWVpSagCzU9xv3Q6wAMG4tx8pPVyIWVpLwnfozgMbHl69EMpKQ9osDbnQ4WBjws/s400/02.png" alt="" id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5575541374940730738" border="0" /></a></div><a href="http://therandomlolita.blogspot.com/2011/02/107-challenge-1-and-2.html#comments">Check out her post</a> for another great Gothic Lolita coordinate!<br /><br />I've been neglecting this blog a bit, even though I've been doing lots of crafty things and updating my shop. She has a gorgeous collection of hats with gothic details such as stripes, feathers, and even cast resin skulls. Some of my favorite hats are her mini tricorns, but I'm a complete sucker for tricorns!<br /><br /><div style="text-align: center;"><a href="http://www.etsy.com/listing/58516502/handmade-miniature-tricorn"><img style="cursor: pointer; width: 357px; height: 400px;" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjQvxqDOXzkenRhL2d13ONw5eCGGwvnzKpIFKNtKOyJblT97iA-lAy6srAOULa8SZMWhzef0NdZzjTcIa2HjO96vR71ovBN5COejWBR5h4t6MU9H5ZNWS4hiKNyCWvCRNI6C52S0JhD-zDP/s400/il_570xN.181803437.jpg" alt="" id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5549893611763725490" border="0" /></a><br /><br /><div style="text-align: left;">If you like the idea of a realistic faux skull perched on your head, but can't afford to drop the cash on one of her exquisitely made hats, she also sells <a href="http://www.etsy.com/listing/60009780/spooky-skull-bow-hair-clip-single">hair bows</a> made with small resin bird skulls.<br /><br />Scissorfiend also has <a href="http://www.scissorfiend.com/">a website</a>, which features a few more of her hats as well as her corset and costume work.<br /></div></div>caro-chanhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/02816959125315317615noreply@blogger.com3tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-8499737509005967878.post-88695254718798943172010-12-10T11:24:00.000-08:002010-12-10T11:24:00.290-08:00Pretty Crocet GlovesGloves are such a cute accessory, and as a Lolita who sways towards Classic and Gothic, a pretty pair <a href="http://www.fyeahlolita.com/2010/11/gloves-ladies-accessory.html">is sometimes a necessity</a>. The problem tends to be finding a nice pair, a pair that is on par with the quality of a dress. I recently stumbled across the Etsy shop <a href="http://www.etsy.com/shop/crochetize">Crocetize</a>, featuring made-to-order crochet lace gloves.<br /><div style="text-align: center;"><a href="http://www.etsy.com/shop/crochetize"><img style="cursor: pointer; width: 293px; height: 220px;" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiRRi40jNBjVFiyBHJL-_xWZ4WH4vhxvKxvU6M64KYjn0IujkZ2j5bDwabvBdg06dvo4WQ5XdqgOr627LEwYYrRjCXBaOZH-lp9FJnDcv3IUNuorKt4_N-rQARhjPLUGnwCPHFmA4f2_QP5/s400/il_570xN.177915073.jpg" alt="" id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5548751041550181506" border="0" /></a></div><br />The gloves offered on Crochetize are delicate and pretty and, quite possibly the best part, they can be made in a variety of colors, from basic black and off-white to various shades of pink and beyond. You can get a pair of gloves to match your wardrobe perfectly!<br /><br />Price wise, the gloves from Crochetize are very fairly priced, at $39 for gloves with fingers and $35 without fingers.caro-chanhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/02816959125315317615noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-8499737509005967878.post-75370025936451733862010-12-09T13:27:00.000-08:002010-12-09T14:56:49.953-08:00Shipping Price Adjustment- Cheaper Shipping!<div style="text-align: center;"><a onblur="try {parent.deselectBloggerImageGracefully();} catch(e) {}" href="http://www.etsy.com/shop/OphanimGothique"><img style="cursor: pointer; width: 400px; height: 363px;" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgHKdNpk3rWlUV0vK16YuHxJM1JnjpEIpnnUQ3I1K44U2sR1ZjUpsLjkMqbE57DS9nqIzZVGLdK4KntXNkHC0EQT-4z2jUQ8hs6nOpIl09mrD5TkAsOsM9eD4Rw-cLdY1CTl_AvEpouu8kU/s400/DSC_0076.jpg" alt="" id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5548580866213970594" border="0" /></a><br /><div style="text-align: left;">I recently ordered some bubble mailers, as well as kraft boxes in huuuuge bulk, so because of that I am now saving a ton on shipping supplies. I used to spend almost a dollar <span style="font-style: italic;">per</span> bubble mailer. Just the bubble mailer mind you, that was totally before shipping. A dollar added onto first class postage isn't much less than Priority mail, so to save me some trouble I would just ship Priority. But now that I got a ton of bubble mailers for practically pennies I can ship first class for significantly less than Priority.<br /><br />So what does that mean for you? It means shipping for jewelry and other small items in my shop are a couple dollars cheaper than they were before. The only down side to this is that things might take a little longer to get to you.<br /><br />I can, of course, still ship Priority mail if you would like, all you have to do is message me on Etsy after placing your order and let me know and I'll invoice you for the difference, which will only be a couple dollars more.<br /></div></div>caro-chanhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/02816959125315317615noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-8499737509005967878.post-14241417286381950222010-12-08T22:15:00.000-08:002010-12-08T22:23:30.183-08:00Long Time, No Post!Well, it's been a while! I get so caught up with <a href="http://www.fyeahlolita.com/">my other blog</a> and doing the actual crafting that I always forget about this one. Well, no more! For now at least :3<br /><br />I recently came across the Etsy shop <a href="http://www.etsy.com/shop/TotusMel">Totus Mel Tats</a>, a shop dedicated to beautifully tatted accessories.<br /><div style="text-align: center;"><a href="http://www.etsy.com/listing/59130975/grand-victorian-daisy-tatted-choker"><img style="cursor: pointer; width: 337px; height: 337px;" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjAspT71w1ItJN_DFAdbv9UrnvsZ-CaMT9yVYLjqMLnwTac_L-A3cv4DY-toGBW3lyKZCjAF9w_uMijXng0U031ybrAgOjaEFVBZjx74IbyXGv5ouFhpiJOwdlkDfF5fv1ZFnPoDbAJfU8M/s400/il_570xN.183859320.jpg" alt="" id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5548563345818132210" border="0" /></a><br /></div><div style="text-align: center; font-style: italic;"><span style="font-size:78%;">Here's one of my favorite pieces. Chokers like this are so perfect!<br /></span></div><br />Tatting is a very vintage styled craft, it's when you make lots of little knots to make pretty lace work. Ladies used to do it to the edges of their hankies (and pretty much everything else!). Most tatting shops I come across are filled with very cute and charming things, so I was very excited to see a shop selling gothically inclined tatted pieces!<br /><br />I'm really hoping to update this blog a bit more! So maybe I'll be doing daily Etsy finds, or pretty inspiration. Or at least, near daily and not once ever couple of months like I have been doing!caro-chanhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/02816959125315317615noreply@blogger.com3tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-8499737509005967878.post-63503085849723314842010-10-05T18:47:00.000-07:002010-10-05T18:58:19.896-07:00Ophanim Has A Facebook!I was recently asked why I didn't have a fan page for Ophanim :O I realized that the answer to this is a) I didn't know if anyone would be interested, and b) I'm sort of Facebooktarded, I can never figure out how to do anything on it XD But, I finally figured it out and got a fan page for Ophanim.<br /><br /><a href="http://www.facebook.com/pages/Ophanim/122995224417781">Click here to check out Ophanim's Facebook fan page!</a><br /><br />I plan on using it for shop updates, progress shots, and occasional sales that only Facebook fans will know about. As well as a general way to get in contact with me!<br /><br />In shop news I have a few bonnets and mini-tricorns in the works. My faux flower supplies have been very lacking lately and I just haven't had the time to replenish them, so I haven't had the chance to actually completely finish any of these bonnets! I'm also looking to expand to soft brimmed bonnets, sort of like the kinds Lolita brands sell. I am planning on making a number of these so that anyone interested in getting one of my bonnets, but the price is a bit out of their budget, can get something in the style that I make.<br /><br />I plan to heavily decorate them with flowers and lace and bows just like I do with my bonnets, just a little bit less to keep the cost down. I'm a sewing novice but I discovered that I can make these rather well when I am patient about it. I think I just love bonnets that much XD<br /><br />Sadly, as I was finishing up my second soft bonnet, my sewing machine decided to break on it. It's just a little break! The presser foot lever is now broken so I have to pull the presser foot up on it's own. Which is doable, it's just very very obnoxious. No worries though, I have a back up sewing machine that I can get my hands on. So expect some news about that sometime in the next few weeks!caro-chanhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/02816959125315317615noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-8499737509005967878.post-41096938866431154742010-09-28T14:41:00.000-07:002010-09-28T15:15:04.367-07:00Supply Spotlight: Brick House FabricsI'm always on the look out for amazing fabrics that I can hoard away until that illustrious day in the future when I'm good enough at using a sewing machine that I can sew my own clothes (Fun fact! Bonnets pretty much can only be hand sewn! With the exception of a few details I sew all of my bonnets by hand) So I was very pleased to stumbled across <a href="http://www.etsy.com/shop/BrickHouseFabrics">Brick House Fabrics</a> on <span class="blsp-spelling-error" id="SPELLING_ERROR_0">Etsy</span>. While the prices are a bit high, around $20 a yard, and you're probably going to need about 3 yards if you plan on making a dress or a <span class="blsp-spelling-error" id="SPELLING_ERROR_1">JSK</span> in the Lolita style, making the material costs a lot higher than normal, the fabric choices are all wonderful and the shop is filled with prints I have never seen before! These are certainly all fabrics that would make even the simplest design something truly unique and elegant. The best part about these fabrics is that nearly all of them are large, ornate designs, not all over tiny calico prints like so many interesting themes seem to come in.<br /><br /><div style="text-align: center;"><a href="http://www.etsy.com/listing/13524901/monkey-fabric-tropical-jungle-rose"><img style="cursor: pointer; width: 400px; height: 376px;" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEi_l6mL1ldN_ILYQ1MzuIKssmDnRa92-cL2CoKMCFSvRLWnzGsDYD97HTg028ZA1Y7nW0pqUP76dsN-4LUJICuhZwgATSlUCaM-rxRxbrsXfNBdd6C7BY_D6wqDXmDfWsI7ZlDRDf-uDE3w/s400/il_430xN.45636967.jpg" alt="" id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5522086254005921202" border="0" /></a><br /><div style="text-align: left;">This is a fabric so unique I don't think I've ever seen anything like it! For really cheap too! Nothing cost more than $18 dollars, most of it I picked up for a dollar or two. Of course, most of this stuff is worth about a dollar XD But I needed some nik-naks of questionable taste to scatter about.<br /><br /><div style="text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEj6b93fQph7eRFjIF7GlPgwpnvYnGzNY4pwgDAHtFnV9HSDHMwPJrcgqlYmfjhe1-SimTGltHU1esvOVSB5P13sqyR-R-L8U9ZVhQacrwONFIJeQMYboi3YK7lRog7vCuPwaNOKJIzEdCx0/s1600/DSC_0043.jpg"><img style="cursor: pointer; width: 400px; height: 230px;" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEj6b93fQph7eRFjIF7GlPgwpnvYnGzNY4pwgDAHtFnV9HSDHMwPJrcgqlYmfjhe1-SimTGltHU1esvOVSB5P13sqyR-R-L8U9ZVhQacrwONFIJeQMYboi3YK7lRog7vCuPwaNOKJIzEdCx0/s400/DSC_0043.jpg" alt="" id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5516510610239075042" border="0" /></a><br /><div style="text-align: left;">The only one of these that both cost more than a dollar and is actually worth more than a dollar is the 1960's nun vase. As I said in the previous post, I had always seen these head vases around but never really gave them much thought until I picked up this particular one. I think I'm hooked now! She definitely needs some equally fabulous friends.<br /><br /><div style="text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjpV6-KShkEZD0NqbnGWg82ri9lOToMmoRDwgaFoVYhqhNFUfJ_uWpkKLYPJZk-NryiSwqHRaNkQrsPUAObQF6eauMCx-6kKvXC8_Sq4h7Rhtxflzx9YQa3L_t2ADv_unWV2RtV4vSHXyCO/s1600/DSC_0044.jpg"><img style="cursor: pointer; width: 268px; height: 400px;" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjpV6-KShkEZD0NqbnGWg82ri9lOToMmoRDwgaFoVYhqhNFUfJ_uWpkKLYPJZk-NryiSwqHRaNkQrsPUAObQF6eauMCx-6kKvXC8_Sq4h7Rhtxflzx9YQa3L_t2ADv_unWV2RtV4vSHXyCO/s400/DSC_0044.jpg" alt="" id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5516510604557111522" border="0" /></a><br /></div></div><div style="text-align: left;">Check out the fake eyelashes on this nun! And her complete lack of eyebrows for some reason. This nun vase was in a booth full of head shaped vases from the 50's and 60's and as I was walking past it this one particular one struck my eye as being extra fabulous. I really can't resist myself when I come across a piece of kitsch like this. While googling a bit to find some more info about this piece I came across <a href="http://www.catholichomeandgarden.com/Head_Vases_and_Planters.htm">this page dedicated to Catholic themed vases</a> like this. I think I know what I'm going to be collecting next!<br /><br /><div style="text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjUWO2qf9eEfzXPyXmCoVeuo8-RpaHGzUYgOgzkCnKzGSHXzqsX4KOjx8xZjMGeRWpV2zuyH50RXXKmJ95_EHtlE06VHg34UrbSAE44SYMaHwtq-ThFc2nUlRdS-x0H25uFsxC0IWpuMWSU/s1600/DSC_0048.jpg"><img style="cursor: pointer; width: 400px; height: 207px;" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjUWO2qf9eEfzXPyXmCoVeuo8-RpaHGzUYgOgzkCnKzGSHXzqsX4KOjx8xZjMGeRWpV2zuyH50RXXKmJ95_EHtlE06VHg34UrbSAE44SYMaHwtq-ThFc2nUlRdS-x0H25uFsxC0IWpuMWSU/s400/DSC_0048.jpg" alt="" id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5516510593878474338" border="0" /></a><br /><div style="text-align: left;">As well as tacky ceramic ware I picked up a few vintage gloves, check out the fishnet ones, a vintage velvet hat, and a miniature Polish bible with some great illustrations.<br /><br /><div style="text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjtfMSjl0ENgStvoj0zLdZkMRGmjHZNnDR3nVEzDx0-a47FTxUaYbrXFN0q0LVQsJFgJjbdE6lbSOQQ6rFrM8viUExTedBuA2O8hlSCQ0C6peQCgYN4n-1AGOqJk7TTzp4GiOIWEviXO5kB/s1600/DSC_0049.jpg"><img style="cursor: pointer; width: 400px; height: 228px;" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjtfMSjl0ENgStvoj0zLdZkMRGmjHZNnDR3nVEzDx0-a47FTxUaYbrXFN0q0LVQsJFgJjbdE6lbSOQQ6rFrM8viUExTedBuA2O8hlSCQ0C6peQCgYN4n-1AGOqJk7TTzp4GiOIWEviXO5kB/s400/DSC_0049.jpg" alt="" id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5516510620118128866" border="0" /></a><br /><div style="text-align: left;">The final thing I have pictures of is this. It's a stereoscope, which is like a Victorian 3D picture viewer. It's missing the piece that held the cards on (from some googling I am thinking something slid over the long part sticking out in front, instead of having a fixed bar across it like most do) and I don't actually have any cards to view on it because I have never picked them up when I found them since I didn't have anything to view them on, but I can easily find some later. I've been looking for one of these for so long, and when I do come across them they are usually $50-$70. This one, on the other hand, only cost me $15. Which is awesooome. I can't wait to experience turn of the century 3D technology with this baby.<br /><br />The only thing not pictured that I picked up, sadly, is a little tiny vintage siamese kitten figurine. When I say tiny I mean tiny, it was about an inch big and so cute and chubby. Sadly, I managed to loose it! I had it in the car and cannot remember where I put it after I was admiring it's cuteness. I really hope it didn't end up in in one of the bags with balled up newspaper and then got thrown away. It would be such a shame if it got lost, it really was cute! I'm hoping it turns up somewhere soon!<br /></div></div></div></div></div></div>caro-chanhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/02816959125315317615noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-8499737509005967878.post-18832847710059790702010-09-12T08:50:00.001-07:002011-09-24T16:56:37.918-07:00Back From Brimfield's Massive Antique Market!Yesterday I woke up at the crack of dawn to get ready to go to a massive, <a href="http://www.maysbrimfield.com/">thrice-yearly antique market</a> in Brimfield Massachusetts. When I say massive, I mean massive. I was there for 4 hours and only got about a third of a way through. There are hundreds and hundreds of booths, tents, carpets, and backs of vans in some cases at this event that's touted as the "largest, seasonal outdoor event of it's kind in North America." People come from all over the country to spend their money there.<br />
<br />
I've been going ever since I was about 8 years old, at least once, usually twice, and a couple times three times a year. Of course, when I was little I hated it. The walking, the heat, the general boringness of following my parents around and not being able to look at the few things there I was interested in at the time. As I got older, as was allowed to wander this massive event on my own I grew to love it and look forward to it, especially if I had some spare cash and a fully charged camera to bring!<br />
<br />
These pictures really don't capture just how huge the market is, but it captures a few of my favorite finds there.<br />
<div style="text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgcrEO6TcKQIOQX74NytYv1kueFFyRYoTCyeTIMnwp6e0thA6y_nR35URy3WmoXYOD3tu4SKQicxCbgf630NqBPJhHjHUFRbEfNTNkWsY4eELinhVVxKtFFVvZblWhXqc5Q_rRWGhGHKQ_T/s1600/P1010027.jpg"><img alt="" border="0" id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5516060255394400642" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgcrEO6TcKQIOQX74NytYv1kueFFyRYoTCyeTIMnwp6e0thA6y_nR35URy3WmoXYOD3tu4SKQicxCbgf630NqBPJhHjHUFRbEfNTNkWsY4eELinhVVxKtFFVvZblWhXqc5Q_rRWGhGHKQ_T/s400/P1010027.jpg" style="cursor: pointer; height: 335px; width: 400px;" /></a><br />
I loved the pink tent! Everything in it was really cheap too, nearly everything was $5. I couldn't stay in it too long though because the sun shining through the neon pink tent made everything inside it ultra pink and glowy!<br />

This print is supposed to be a woman delighted with her boudoir dolls, but it looks more like a woman shrieking at tiny dead people.<br />

The three pictures above are all from the same tent, a tent that seemed to be completely filled with medical dummies and erotic books from the '70s. I'm not going to lie, I thought it was the most awesome tent at the antique market.<br />

I loved this tent as well, as I'm sure you can tell by all the pictures I took of it. All of the dummies of various sizes wearing antique clothes was so striking. I didn't notice those boater hats until I was resizing the pictures! I wish I did notice them while I was actually taking the picture because I probably would have claimed one for myself.<br />

Every year there is an area set up with dozens of statues and fountains, it looks so cool! This was only a small part of that area.<br />

The two above pictures are from another tent that I like to browse every year, it's a tent specializing in religious art, icons, and antique relics. I can never stay too long in there though because the prices, as you can imagine, are incredibly high. That little blue box in the middle, yeah, there were more than two zero's in the price.<br />

I was on the lookout for an antique bonnet and found this one, but it's a small child's bonnet so I decided I didn't need it. Until, of course, I was resizing the image and noticed the price tag said it was only 14.95! Of course I would have bought it if I knew it was that cheap!<br />

Oh look another boater hat I didn't even notice until I was resizing! I was too intrigued by the sassy lady-head planter to notice, an object I have always just skimmed over in the past but was completely enamored with this year.<br />

What did I buy this year? I'll save that for tomorrow's post! Here's a hint though: A whole lot of useless stuff! Some years I come home with nothing but a couple antique photos, this year I found a ton of really good deals and neat things, so stay tuned for that post.caro-chanhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/02816959125315317615noreply@blogger.com1tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-8499737509005967878.post-56213203899141407332010-09-07T14:50:00.000-07:002010-09-15T17:58:49.657-07:00Etsy Spotlight: Silent Cheesecake DesignsIt's no secret, I really love <a href="http://www.etsy.com/">Etsy</a>. I love it for the hand crafted pretty things, for the unique vintage pieces, and most of all, I love it for the incredible craft supplies. So I'm going to be occasionally spotlighting an Etsy shop that caught my eye on one or another of my many window shopping trips through Etsy. I will mostly be focusing on hand crafted shops, but the occasional vintage or supply shop will also be featured.<br /><br />The first shop to be featured is <a href="http://www.etsy.com/shop/silentcheesecake">Silent Cheesecake Designs</a>, a shop combining a few of my favorite things into unique and strange jewelry. Specimen vials, Victorian curio, and real organic materials combine to create beautiful jewelry.<br /><br /><div style="text-align: center;"><a onblur="try {parent.deselectBloggerImageGracefully();} catch(e) {}" href="http://www.etsy.com/listing/51810049/venus-yellowjacket-wasp-necklace"><img style="cursor: pointer; width: 267px; height: 400px;" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiEGBWCG_GDmm84JxsG6mF_7cErMdJHTyrY_oFy-8q3YqjxPg0W3KrPaXl-QCWzeTOf-AD5STEpXym1E8pIZPHLroJRzUWlMzkP9DGIbt7fwgiy6pzBlhjsDSGj8vlh7a4ZA9kvdh596968/s400/il_430xN.159364302.jpg" alt="" id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5514295739433930434" border="0" /></a> <a onblur="try {parent.deselectBloggerImageGracefully();} catch(e) {}" href="http://www.etsy.com/listing/48958838/bombyx-mori-necklace"><img style="cursor: pointer; width: 267px; height: 400px;" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjz75t_anV1UjKTQKPguUYu2oJs6uRCQgBumiHLSgkHVTR3lbgx30kEslZzf2w0XuG-__k7dWRIO3SfQcDEP-w-jjsHzRYVp9jZw5QzjqCyokfqi_n03lqasqvlvZHi5zwhIWuYjnVeYFEH/s400/il_430xN.151544919.jpg" alt="" id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5514295730249860146" border="0" /></a><br /></div>Silent Cheesecake's signature pieces are glass vials filled with a variety of specimens suspended in beautifully clear wax. The specimens are all real and range from leaves to flowers to insects to bones to small sea life. The wax is beautifully clear and relatively free of bubbles or distracting debris as I have seen in some embedded object jewelry.<br /><br /><div style="text-align: center;"><a onblur="try {parent.deselectBloggerImageGracefully();} catch(e) {}" href="http://www.etsy.com/listing/52842439/jewel-beetle-earrings"><img style="cursor: pointer; width: 267px; height: 400px;" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiStFzKd2fEvNYZNQvKfa-QESscnD2QG52wWSQ9W1is45T9d8gGqKdjU97e2ZH1cu2xsS9NcDcwbg1pRdnCdg5M_3hRTofF5AVT-vBotzxU-d9OwuGccuANv2Z7FF2c4bO9bQgDg4bI7rVl/s400/il_430xN.162820437.jpg" alt="" id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5514295737108218034" border="0" /></a><br /></div>Another frequent theme in Silent Cheesecakes's shop is beetle wings. Beetle wings are an infrequently used jewelry material, but I find that whenever they are used the result is stunning. Real beetle wings have an incredible luster and texture that just can't be faked.<br /><br /><div style="text-align: center;"><a onblur="try {parent.deselectBloggerImageGracefully();} catch(e) {}" href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEh52DjVvo9a98CRWphcs0JiWzquZal30kyhCccAeWTEi_ji9ti9Tk_XSusCvxM53FwiGld1DNE2JTYOCrr-FRuQ9sJKyOlfIXlJQyhwV6RN3xlrQsBYr0L8oo6jo7kxq6FX1sjK7O9erUEM/s1600/il_430xN.121173462.jpg"><img style="cursor: pointer; width: 299px; height: 400px;" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEh52DjVvo9a98CRWphcs0JiWzquZal30kyhCccAeWTEi_ji9ti9Tk_XSusCvxM53FwiGld1DNE2JTYOCrr-FRuQ9sJKyOlfIXlJQyhwV6RN3xlrQsBYr0L8oo6jo7kxq6FX1sjK7O9erUEM/s400/il_430xN.121173462.jpg" alt="" id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5514296045402147906" border="0" /></a> <a onblur="try {parent.deselectBloggerImageGracefully();} catch(e) {}" href="http://www.etsy.com/listing/37949558/monarch-under-glass"><img style="cursor: pointer; width: 301px; height: 400px;" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgKVVENLq61iWM2py1-VokLOm48NSwBe01G0tQeL3tqtYSqsjhcO7RRMOXAvBvAO2jsxzIfFWDZJyswih7fvAPlsj1NVL8KXabDb2K4dwTEiQBtitlE6VGq5tFoLCAuSYQLZH6f-T5Nnt5X/s400/il_430xN.114058903.jpg" alt="" id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5514296042391190578" border="0" /></a><br /><div style="text-align: left;">If you are looking for something a little more subtle than a mouse skull floating in clear wax, you can pick up a small pendant featuring either real butterfly wings or a mini print with pressed flowers on the back.<br /><br /><div style="text-align: center;"><a onblur="try {parent.deselectBloggerImageGracefully();} catch(e) {}" href="http://www.etsy.com/listing/52831740/relics-and-rust"><img style="cursor: pointer; width: 267px; height: 400px;" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjKW6bO5nb2wcq3bY12hBB-IIwfZgyZJ265SS5NbKbeXthEExZXEWN11mjaTYOeftsGGIBCYYT56OzNVr_lxpyO2Dp7CRq-WvXbdvjzoEAub8C2rhJcrB72erz_HIEADKaT-ucYElAoED4T/s400/il_430xN.162785481.jpg" alt="" id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5514296050948640114" border="0" /></a><br /><div style="text-align: left;">Something else that Silent Cheesecake carries, and something I'm always on the lookout for, is beautifully detailed bird cage necklaces. She uses small rusty birdcages and decorates them with unique beads and animal vertebrate. The end result is stunning and unique and almost like a contained curio cabinet you can carry with you!<br /></div></div></div></div><br /><div style="text-align: center;"><a onblur="try {parent.deselectBloggerImageGracefully();} catch(e) {}" href="http://www.etsy.com/shop/silentcheesecake"><img style="cursor: pointer; width: 400px; height: 53px;" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiWSF62dp072bQWlojA_K34xcplASE-pN-T_QOrLSR5NHaeoZsP9IVDjpbq2qtUV7iqwJBOT0b897hAF2FhFQC90i_OEWDzIicLq9ZMGhLNJbNBIls9UmZRPN0CCfm1SmLLgajgwxRJZgz9/s400/iusb_760x100.7591302.jpg" alt="" id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5514295729194452178" border="0" /></a><br /><div style="text-align: left;">Silent Cheesecake carries a wide assortment of pieces, and has a rather full shop of around 6 pages. The prices are very reasonable for such unique pieces and range from very affordable $10 earrings to more expensive and much larger pendants. If you admire the look, but are a bit squeamish about wearing real specimens around your neck there are a variety of pieces with the same aesthetic that use no organic materials or only pressed flowers, so you can still wear an equally beautiful piece without having to go all out and wear something you might not feel comfortable wearing around your neck. Personally, I love the organic pieces and have my eye set on one of her vial necklaces with <a href="http://www.etsy.com/listing/54428045/tentacle-pendant-s7">real octopus tentacles in it</a>!<br /></div></div>caro-chanhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/02816959125315317615noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-8499737509005967878.post-50753824378960863322010-09-02T10:39:00.001-07:002010-09-15T17:58:54.259-07:00Ophanim Post CardsI got my post card order in the mail today! It's quite a big stack but the price was really good, so I couldn't resist. The art and design is all done by myself, it's <a href="http://fav.me/d2x8mpt">this particular picture</a> that I made just to get printed up. If you're unfamiliar with what this gorgeous print looks like, here it is:<br /><br /><div style="text-align: center;"><a onblur="try {parent.deselectBloggerImageGracefully();} catch(e) {}" href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgOVEJsv5FkhvxY81oNAXAc77foyx5gbl8d1XX_pLxB8Y202JJF3ZvckkpDMMfJgOidh0-625cAxAIxgvcHZ3lu8buNzBdO_0EnDs6kwLE-NXj17-76NOATdDNPmX7Ch2F5CMku1Ec3qBGH/s1600/swanlake-1.jpg"><img style="cursor: pointer; width: 300px; height: 400px;" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgOVEJsv5FkhvxY81oNAXAc77foyx5gbl8d1XX_pLxB8Y202JJF3ZvckkpDMMfJgOidh0-625cAxAIxgvcHZ3lu8buNzBdO_0EnDs6kwLE-NXj17-76NOATdDNPmX7Ch2F5CMku1Ec3qBGH/s400/swanlake-1.jpg" alt="" id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5512097951201609234" border="0" /></a><br /></div><br />This print, in this particular colorway has been a dream print of mine so it was really fun to get to create something based on it. I'm trying to work on packaging and what I guess you could call advertising. It's a lot of hard work, but it's sort of fun! I honestly feel a bit like I did when I was little, coloring and cutting out fake coupons or circus tickets in preparation for for a game of pretend. But this time my shop is actually a real one, selling things I've hand made. I'm actually trying to keep as much of my packaging hand made as possible. I've got a nice printer, a paper cutter, a big stack of <span class="blsp-spelling-error" id="SPELLING_ERROR_0">cardstock</span>, and a hole puncher that makes tiny little holes! What can I do with that? Well, I've found that I can do a lot of things with it that create a, hopefully, professional look to the things I make and sell.<br /><br /><div style="text-align: center;"><a onblur="try {parent.deselectBloggerImageGracefully();} catch(e) {}" href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEj1RH3nGeeeDPFxE2_OIwzkRjFOsvnHQuvntA7HTULiwrRITGl9aCTQoJ0PMljNzdJCvy4voJmuCevS-kWgw5MgO9ZkdRrAqdb3skR43YaPijFUTfbFm9u_xVG5WVRiY50rcbJcr0jKB11c/s1600/DSC_000722.jpg"><img style="cursor: pointer; width: 459px; height: 449px;" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEj1RH3nGeeeDPFxE2_OIwzkRjFOsvnHQuvntA7HTULiwrRITGl9aCTQoJ0PMljNzdJCvy4voJmuCevS-kWgw5MgO9ZkdRrAqdb3skR43YaPijFUTfbFm9u_xVG5WVRiY50rcbJcr0jKB11c/s400/DSC_000722.jpg" alt="" id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5510206835219620482" border="0" /></a><br /></div>For my line of sweet stuff, I've made fancy little cards to clip some jewelry onto. They then go into little 4x6 <span class="blsp-spelling-error" id="SPELLING_ERROR_1">ziplocks</span> that I found in the craft section. My more classical or <span class="blsp-spelling-error" id="SPELLING_ERROR_2">gothic</span> jewelry will be packaged up a bit differently, I'm not quite sure how yet, but I have printed up some tags with a pretty engraved style design on it.<br /><br />I've also been working on some postcard sized prints for my shop, and just for fun. I will be getting these printed for me, one at a time, because it would kill my printer and it's just cheaper to do these in bulk. A whole lot of tags can be made from a couple sheets of paper, but these are a bit bigger!<br /><br /><div style="text-align: center;"><a onblur="try {parent.deselectBloggerImageGracefully();} catch(e) {}" href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjdOlypUrKsArK0ojFaLcnWmQz4XDhN9LvAxosW8Mmeygv2tJH2Gr65-sECxxBSNdgVNn_AIFGwYM8yN9bYnuduz9npIu3lxdJVxNj9eQmSC6_2ErCfI4JBQjPMR_zBA5SJQhyphenhyphennYkp3CSqa/s1600/smallclassicstandcard.jpg"><img style="cursor: pointer; width: 312px; height: 400px;" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjdOlypUrKsArK0ojFaLcnWmQz4XDhN9LvAxosW8Mmeygv2tJH2Gr65-sECxxBSNdgVNn_AIFGwYM8yN9bYnuduz9npIu3lxdJVxNj9eQmSC6_2ErCfI4JBQjPMR_zBA5SJQhyphenhyphennYkp3CSqa/s400/smallclassicstandcard.jpg" alt="" id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5510206817753714130" border="0" /></a> <a onblur="try {parent.deselectBloggerImageGracefully();} catch(e) {}" href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhLewXUSJfmNbnuEMSA6xkKkakmA8G4YfgFx9CAOvMK59WAHP7b-1CJJwget7ITOJf0gHK5L0iRmDASCDvPfoqniFgnevcg2H_ZZu8lPZ898GUK9vNnrW7nd3qk_MiIDm-A880jD7EvIYQt/s1600/smallsweeteating.jpg"><img style="cursor: pointer; width: 311px; height: 400px;" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhLewXUSJfmNbnuEMSA6xkKkakmA8G4YfgFx9CAOvMK59WAHP7b-1CJJwget7ITOJf0gHK5L0iRmDASCDvPfoqniFgnevcg2H_ZZu8lPZ898GUK9vNnrW7nd3qk_MiIDm-A880jD7EvIYQt/s400/smallsweeteating.jpg" alt="" id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5510206823540868146" border="0" /></a><br /><span style="font-size:85%;"><span style="font-style: italic;">Click either for a larger picture.</span></span><br /><br /><div style="text-align: left;">I plan on doing one for each style my shop caters to, Classic Lolita, Sweet Lolita, and Gothic Lolita. The Gothic Lolita one is still in progress! I plan on giving these away with orders from my shop as a little thank you. The first cake slice in stock (that sold out within an hour of posting!) is a <a href="http://www.etsy.com/transaction/32786890">super sweet pink and blue slice</a>.<br /><br /><div style="text-align: center;"><a onblur="try {parent.deselectBloggerImageGracefully();} catch(e) {}" href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjgIoIcJWfw2ODaQpRgpq96wOuwMov_olrRT8bnfwdqBA5rwQz1_peka6k3gzpu02GVHfdzhr3DmwYyUMX0PhowNMTOVbXkgmnPaHocwEuOf_6N59MELJgYh_8QPHAA_hPNTWG5wtpjOtL-/s1600/bottle-necklace.jpg"><img style="cursor: pointer; width: 239px; height: 400px;" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjgIoIcJWfw2ODaQpRgpq96wOuwMov_olrRT8bnfwdqBA5rwQz1_peka6k3gzpu02GVHfdzhr3DmwYyUMX0PhowNMTOVbXkgmnPaHocwEuOf_6N59MELJgYh_8QPHAA_hPNTWG5wtpjOtL-/s400/bottle-necklace.jpg" alt="" id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5506067281665105378" border="0" /></a><br /><div style="text-align: center;"><a onblur="try {parent.deselectBloggerImageGracefully();} catch(e) {}" href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEh8ywgHw5Z8IukAp_bD_TQ6aWif_mflB43f2Q5ySDbc15eVZAEbTloFEPVLM9uxrZN9PW1FAEDKxbL6ncikDpYaT9oYMWQF8x_-a8aseakPL1yATDV4SNheq7_B55sJzkPSOUI5VnbKrrut/s1600/DSC_0039.jpg"><img style="cursor: pointer; width: 171px; height: 153px;" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEh8ywgHw5Z8IukAp_bD_TQ6aWif_mflB43f2Q5ySDbc15eVZAEbTloFEPVLM9uxrZN9PW1FAEDKxbL6ncikDpYaT9oYMWQF8x_-a8aseakPL1yATDV4SNheq7_B55sJzkPSOUI5VnbKrrut/s400/DSC_0039.jpg" alt="" id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5506064330179978434" border="0" /></a><a onblur="try {parent.deselectBloggerImageGracefully();} catch(e) {}" href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgmNWjxG8yCf2MlMURRjWcjdNpUmWTS2z4wT6GP0Ba_B-webJL3UDhxX7lsfWdfcT8K7afJpAxMS-GsabYroKqAfv_eJxtoc3bOBcurTpsgF0y-AQA-tlWqOYuT1GfVexeqWrDKCIimXZ-J/s1600/DSC_0058.jpg"><img style="cursor: pointer; width: 230px; height: 153px;" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgmNWjxG8yCf2MlMURRjWcjdNpUmWTS2z4wT6GP0Ba_B-webJL3UDhxX7lsfWdfcT8K7afJpAxMS-GsabYroKqAfv_eJxtoc3bOBcurTpsgF0y-AQA-tlWqOYuT1GfVexeqWrDKCIimXZ-J/s400/DSC_0058.jpg" alt="" id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5506063546881923714" border="0" /></a><a onblur="try {parent.deselectBloggerImageGracefully();} catch(e) {}" href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjnYt0dLPt0C2K6K_8UPYEu8bvdB7W_xnczpAvay0Qygq-XiBnE5I_IcBzniXcmKVojc99zTpIxgzC_VOyybCpsWEFvJ95KEK1BJVPG_u0DMLEBA0Xr9YfOC3YhHfjZdUzsMHslq3RHuspD/s1600/DSC_0038.jpg"><img style="cursor: pointer; width: 194px; height: 155px;" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjnYt0dLPt0C2K6K_8UPYEu8bvdB7W_xnczpAvay0Qygq-XiBnE5I_IcBzniXcmKVojc99zTpIxgzC_VOyybCpsWEFvJ95KEK1BJVPG_u0DMLEBA0Xr9YfOC3YhHfjZdUzsMHslq3RHuspD/s400/DSC_0038.jpg" alt="" id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5506064322427550434" border="0" /> </a><a onblur="try {parent.deselectBloggerImageGracefully();} catch(e) {}" href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjqmwYx6kJyZrU8kzc_ClpRxtHpSb3Fttyob3Yu0zT5lKFJrTd7C5DCwd1_oUe923Sp_nK9z-4k4Q393KljCHWAdM6ypMFQ2iMmhB572I6h5gYihwbyTeTDPqG5xTQv5jMFJw8UvxEppzJo/s1600/DSC_0050.jpg"><img style="cursor: pointer; width: 191px; height: 153px;" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjqmwYx6kJyZrU8kzc_ClpRxtHpSb3Fttyob3Yu0zT5lKFJrTd7C5DCwd1_oUe923Sp_nK9z-4k4Q393KljCHWAdM6ypMFQ2iMmhB572I6h5gYihwbyTeTDPqG5xTQv5jMFJw8UvxEppzJo/s400/DSC_0050.jpg" alt="" id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5506064334129902258" border="0" /></a><a onblur="try {parent.deselectBloggerImageGracefully();} catch(e) {}" href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgVU0WgmagyLOg7s0dPlmD1yZIWe7KoMMxyzRV9nFGhCOKF5fgNO9tcB7clIicMY6vRoEPW7ifiR4dUm4VNpyATtGuuAOA8fk0kzzAB5BC7jM_cMSqA4_vcB_TZY8cBfvwWs5SvQvGNSFOV/s1600/DSC_0052.jpg"><img style="cursor: pointer; width: 129px; height: 154px;" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgVU0WgmagyLOg7s0dPlmD1yZIWe7KoMMxyzRV9nFGhCOKF5fgNO9tcB7clIicMY6vRoEPW7ifiR4dUm4VNpyATtGuuAOA8fk0kzzAB5BC7jM_cMSqA4_vcB_TZY8cBfvwWs5SvQvGNSFOV/s400/DSC_0052.jpg" alt="" id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5506063545055151234" border="0" /> </a></div><div style="text-align: left;">Another new thing for Ophaim is <a href="http://www.etsy.com/shop/OphanimGothique?section_id=6786786">jewelery with a sweeter style</a>.
